We have launched a Pakistan wide program called Young Entrepreneurs Movement (YEM) a movement aimed at bringing forth the stories, struggles, successes of youth. Started in September 2020, this online fellowship has seen over 223 YEMERs graduate from the program and this time we are working with over 2000 applications from Pakistan and around the world.
The YEMERs as we like to call them, are a community of young adults who are also engaged in social empowerment and uplift by being a part of conversations that need to be represented for the greater betterment of the country. We have had YEMERs speak on colorism, mental health, early marriages, child labor and climate change to name a few.
Maya Penn has always loved to create. As a young girl, she learned from her mother how to sew. “When I was 8, I started taking old clothes and fabric and turning them into new designs,” she says. “People wanted to know where to buy them, and I got the idea to make my own business.”
Two years later, Penn launched her online store to sell her fashion brand. She named it “Maya’s Ideas”. Her business uses unwanted clothes and other recycled materials. The company donates 10 percent of its profits to environmental and social causes. That’s important because making clothing has many harmful effects on the environment. It uses enormous amounts of resources and causes a lot of pollution. Penn, who is now 23 and lives in Atlanta, Georgia, hopes her company sets an example for the rest of the fashion industry.
Clothing producers use about 53 million tons of fabric each year. Of that, more than 6 million tons are wasted while clothes are being designed and produced, and most fast fashion ends up in landfills.
Saudi Vision 2030 is a government program launched by the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia which aims to achieve the goal of increased diversification economically, socially, and culturally, in line with the vision of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
Saudi Arabia is one of the largest oil producers in the world, and it plays a crucial role in the global energy market. Diversifying its economy can reduce the world’s dependence on oil and encourage the development of alternative energy sources.
By moving away from dependence on oil, the country is focusing on growing other sectors like tourism, entertainment, and technology. This initiative is important not just for Saudi Arabia but for the global economy, as it promotes alternative energy sources. Social reforms, such as enhancing women right’s will make Saudi society more inclusive and dynamic. These changes can also help other countries in the region to increase their revenue and grow.
We are a community driven, social organization. Since every year we have a fantastic response to the YEM Fellowship, the application form shared below needs to assess your passion for social entrepreneurial work, advocacy and finding solutions to our countries problems via dialogues, exchanges and interventions. Certificates will be provided to the YEMERS on completion of the fellowship. This fellowship does not offer a stipend but is paid in kind.
